Život alebo film is a documentary meditation on the life and work of Dušan Hanák, directed by Marek Šulík together with Juraj Johanides. Hanák, an alumnus of Prague's FAMU and a longtime teacher at VŠMU in Bratislava, is regarded as a leading figure of the Czechoslovak New Wave; his films Papierové hlavy and 322 won prizes at festivals in San Francisco, Yamagata and Mannheim, and he received a Crystal Globe for lifetime achievement at Karlovy Vary in 2008.¹⁸⁹⁵

Built from archival footage, photographs and testimony from Hanák's collaborators and film scholars, the documentary had its world premiere at the Cinematik festival in Piešťany, with a ceremonial Bratislava premiere on 29 September ahead of its nationwide release in cinemas on 1 October. According to Denník N, Šulík said he was fascinated by the events in Hanák's life that formed his outlook, and he described the collaboration between the two directors as, at times, fairly volatile.⁵¹⁰

Digger

Digger is Alejandro G. Iñárritu's near-future satire about an Arctic oil tycoon, Digger Rockwell, played by Tom Cruise, whose drilling operation helps trigger a global climate catastrophe. The film, Iñárritu's eighth feature, was shot on VistaVision at Pinewood Studios with cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki, and stars Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Sandra Hüller, Jesse Plemons and Emma D'Arcy alongside Cruise. It opens in Slovak and Czech cinemas on 1 October, rated R with a running time of just over two hours.²⁴¹⁴³

Verity

Verity is a thriller adaptation of a Colleen Hoover novel, directed by Michael Showalter, with Anne Hathaway as the title character and Dakota Johnson as Lowen Ashleigh; Josh Hartnett also appears in the cast. It marks Hoover's fourth novel brought to the screen within two years, following a string of box-office successes, and is part of Amazon MGM's first full theatrical slate. The film opens in Slovak and Czech cinemas on 2 October.³
