Slovak Teenagers, 15, Charged Over Alleged Plot to Kill Classmate

An investigator of the Bratislava Regional Directorate of the Police Corps has charged two 15-year-old boys with the especially serious crime of premeditated murder at the preparation stage, over an alleged plot to kill a classmate, Slovak media reported on September 27.¹³

Charges and custody

According to the charges, the two juveniles, both aged 15, allegedly planned to murder a fellow student. The investigator's move classifies the act as an especially serious crime of premeditated murder still in its preparatory stage.¹³²

Both youths are being prosecuted in custody. Police spokeswoman Martina Šemetková told the TASR news agency that the pair are held in custody, without disclosing further details of the case.³²

Šemetková said: "V súčasnosti nie je možné k prípadu uviesť viac skutočností, aby sa nezmaril alebo neohrozil účel trestného konania," meaning that no further facts could be released so as not to frustrate or endanger the criminal proceedings.²

Court decision

According to TV Joj, which first drew attention to the case, a pre-trial judge at the Banská Bystrica workplace of the Specialized Criminal Court decided to place the two youths into custody. The stated reason was concern that they might continue criminal activity, TV Joj reported.¹²⁴
